The Technology

The BioNitrogen concept is to gasify biomass feedstock and convert the resulting gas into urea. Biomass is carbon-based and composed of a mixture of organic molecules containing hydrogen, nitrogen and alkaline earth and heavy metals.

Our feedstock will consist primarily of urban wood waste, agricultural residual products, including sugar cane bagasse, palm waste, rice hulls, peanut hulls, cotton byproducts and corn stover. When received, the biomass will be processed and gasified. The resultant raw synthesis natural gas (syngas) will then pass through a series of scrubbing operations to remove elements that could be detrimental to the downstream catalysts.

The clean syngas will subsequently pass through a series of catalytic reaction stages for transformation into ammonia and urea. During this stage of processing, specific chemicals will be separated out and recycled to the appropriate points in the process.
